Like Damask Paper?

Found this great site for damask overlays... I bought some and have created some great papers! Take a peek... pretty neat! Just had to share... Damask Paper Overlays and they have a commercial use license to boot! And the same here, one more.. More Overlays - Have fun!

What are you doing in January?

I realize January is often slow for many photographers. I would love to hear what you are doing in January!

My list so far:
- completing records from 2008
- new website
- ironing out wedding packages and senior packages
- marketing
- getting organized for 2009 with goals on paper and in a notebook

I know those are only a few things but shoot that small list is overwhelming!!!
I would love to hear what you are doing and how you are doing it! Look forward to reading your comments!!

[red fox photography]-Faux High Key action

Heather asked me to share this here so here goes.

Following a tutorial I got on NAPP I came up with an action to fake the high key look.

Hello from Sherwood, Oregon!

Hi! My name is Angela Smith. I am a stay at home mother to two children, ages 2 & 4 and run my photography business out of my home. My garage has been converted into a small studio and I specialize in newborns and weddings, however I also do families, seniors, children, engagements... Newborns are my passion and my goal is to someday be busy enough that I photograph ONLY newborns. You can see my work on my work on my website or blog.
I'm very much looking forward to being a part of this group. Thanks for having me!

I almost look scared. :)

Emily Steele Photography - Columbia, MD

(Sorry, no picture of myself right now - you'll have to settle for a picture of my son.)
I'm Emily, and I'm JSO with this photo business thing :)

I've always loved photography, thanks to my father (I still have his old 35 mm SLR and a beautiful large format rolleflex I never use). I took photo classes in high school and college, and I got my first DSLR in 2005. I mostly just used it to take pics of my 2 boys (4.5 and 16 months), but took the jump this summer to the pro side. I'm really enjoying it too! It's nice to have a creative outlet, some time away from my kids, and bring in a little extra $!
Feel free to visit my blog or my site! I'm really looking forward to this project!

Creations By Cindy Photography

Hi I am Cindy with Creations By Cindy Photography.
Just a little about myself....
Where do I begin? I am a wife, a mom, a nana, a secretary, a teacher and a photographer. I have a full and wonderful life. I’ve been married for more than 31 years; have three beautiful daughters, and three of the most precious grandchildren you will ever meet! I’ve always loved photography but did not have a passion for it until the birth of my first grandchild. That is what photography is to me…A PASSION. When I catch a glimpse of a child’s smile, or the look on the groom’s face when he sees his bride for the first time, or a mom sitting quietly as she strokes her newborns face….that is passion! There are many people that can take pictures….but it takes passion to make portraits! "Delight Yourself In The Lord And He Shall Give Thee The Desires Of Thine Heart." Psalm 37:4

Take Pictures Please!!

I know it might seem rather odd to be admonishing fellow photographers to take pictures but sometimes I think we get lost in the art of photography and forget about the memories it leaves behind. I was reminded of how often people do not have family portraits made or don't even take pictures this fall when my aunt passed away. My uncle searched high and low and could nto find a single picture of my aunt by herself or recently aside from her drivers license. I was astonished because I have many images of my loved ones on my walls not to mention my hard drive, my photoalbums, my scrapbooks and who knows where else! But nonetheless it reminded me I need to capture the small moments too. Moments like these...

or that headful of curls she has for now!

Even using a point and shoot to document part of my life

So for 2009 strive not only to record memories for you clients but also for your family aswell!

{Warner Robins, GA} Erin Howe Photography

Hi everyone, I'm Erin...
I haven't started my business yet, but hope to be in business later this year!

I've been married for 8 1/2 years and I'm a wahm with 5 children ages 7, 6, 4, 3 and 1. Life is never dull and I have the cutest little subjects to practice on (that is when they cooperate!). My love of photography began with learning and playing in photoshop. Pretty soon I was wanting nice photos to play with. I got a 30D a few years ago and have been hooked every since. I have loved the learning process (although frustrating at times) and am excited for the future!

I have some photos scattered throughout my blog. Feel free to take a peek. :) I am excited to be part of this new blog and I'm looking forward to being inspired (and maybe do some inspiring?)!

{Texas Gulf Coast Photographer} Cates Meow Photography

Hello, my name is Darlene Cates and I live on the Texas Gulf Coast - Friendswood - to be exact. I have always loved photography and scrapbooking. When I saw the digital slr cameras - I was hooked. I haven't used my 35mm film camera in 3 years - and I don't believe I ever will. I love photoshop and often I am sucked into the "photoshop zone" just to see what I can create. It is an addiction and I may need a 12 step program.

I am an educator full time and I have a growing photography business. My website is Cates Meow Photography and I also have a blog . I live with my husband and 2 children, 2 dogs and 1 cat. Our oldest son is in Afghanistan and we pray for his safe return.

I have met so many wonderful people online that are always so generous. I found a really awesome blog by another Texan and she has some great things to share. Here is the link Coffee Tea Photography Blog . Hope you find it useful.

Have a great weekend,
Darlene

Last photos of 2008

I just wanted to share my last photos of 2008 with you. They are of my 3 year old. The tag line of Life Stills Photography is Life stands still when captured on film. When I look at these photos that is exactly what I think of. These snapshot moments are now captured in time. My little one will grow up, but when I look back at these I hope to always see that playful 3 year old I love today. In this process of growing as a photographer, I have learned that every photo of my children that I take need not be perfect, but that I will love it just the same if it helps me remember the moments of their childhood.

16 inspirational portrait photography tecniques.

I saw this at some point while stumbling around the web and thought it was a very good (and inspiring!) read. It definately gave me some fun ideas to play around with and I often look at it for ideas when I'm feeling a touch mundane in my photography - Enjoy!!!

Diana Ornes Photography {La Crosse & Marshfield, WI Photographer}

I am Diana. I am a wife, mother, photographer and daycare provider. I have always enjoyed taking pictures, ever since I can remember. I got bit by the photography bug in Feb. 07 and just started to get serious with my Kodak z712, and boy was that point and shoot very limiting!! I really enjoyed taking pictures of everything, from my family to flowers. After quite some consideration I decided to take the plunge and bought my first DSLR in Jan. 08. I started off with a Canon Rebel XTi. I did porfolio building for a couple of months and really got the feel of what it was like to interact with children and families and capture the memories for them.

I was enjoying my time so much that I decided to start with paying clients, and bought a Canon 20D and some good glass. I second shot quite a few weddings this past summer and just can't wait until I start shooting my own in 2009! My favorite session thus far has to an engagement session with Craig & Dehlee and I can't wait for their wedding in Sept.

I feel blessed to have the most supportive husband and three very understanding children who, themselves, can't put the Playschool Cameras down! I look forward to getting to know you (who I have not already met on other forums) this year and can't wait to contribute to this blog!

HAPPY 2009! You can see my BLOG and my WEBSITE, please feel free to leave comments on the blog, I always like to know someone is there!

{Saint Anthony Indiana Photographer} Jeannette of Jena Photography

Hello, my name is Jeannette Kaufmann. I'm 33 and a photographer in Southern Indiana. My boyfriend Brett and I have been together for just over a year. We have three children combined. Christian 17, Frankie 11 and Eliana 4.

I'm not sure how old I was when I got my first camera. I've always loved taking photographs. When my daughter was born in 2004 I started taking more photos. When she was 18 months old the bug really hit me. At that time (2005) I was using a Fuji Z1 and got some really good photos. Shortly after (2006) that I got a Canon S3 IS and learned it was limiting for me. In October 2007 my dad got me a Canon XTi as an early Christmas gift. And in May 2008 I sold my XTi and upgraded to a Canon 40D.

Ah my lenses I started with a 50mm 1.8 with my XTi and skipped the kit lens. Then for Christmas 2007 I got a 85mm 1.8. In May 2008 I also got a 24-70 2.8 but soon learned I didn't like zooms. I sold it and got a 100mm Macro 2.8 and a 24mm 2.8 in its place. Just a week ago I sold my 24mm 2.8 and replaced it with a Sigma 30mm 1.4. Which I love and I've only had it for 3 days. I'm so glad I purchased it. And I'm even shooting with it wide open which I normally don't do.

Photo of the Day Blog and my website Jena Photography.

ps ... I'll have to edit and post a photo of me once I get one. I don't have any of me.

Kayla Renckly Photography ~ Phoenix, AZ

Hey there, my name is Kayla Renckly! I'm almost 26 and I'm a photographer in the Phoenix area (in the west valley). I've been married 5 1/2 years to my best friend from childhood and we have two sons, Ethan is 4 and Collin is 18 months, but we'd like to add more.

I have always been the crazy girl with a camera since I can remember, starting with a turquoise Kodak point-and-shoot. I wanted to be a stay-at-home-mom after I had my son and I loved taking pictures of him. I bought my first DSLR in 2005, a Konica Minolta 7d. I started portfolio building in late 2005/early 2006 and really felt I could call myself a professional photographer in late 2007. I upgraded to a Sony A700 and absolutely adore it!

Looking back, I took one of the hardest paths towards this dream and I'm still trying to undo several of those mistakes business-wise. I go through some of those "awesome" photos I took and laugh, I feel like I've come SO far! I'd love to be able to save someone else some of the headaches and hopefully being as inspiring as I am inspired by these seriously talented photographers!

{Cape May/Wildwood NJ Photogragher} Kori Hiser Photography

Hi! Hello! Howdy! Hola! Bonjour! I'm Kori of Kori Hiser Photography.
I have always had a passion for photography and art in all forms. I went to a high school specifically geared towards the arts and studied drawing and painting there. I dabbled a bit in film photography there but really fell in love when I started working in the insurance industry and needed a creative outlet. So, I started taking pictures of anything and everything but especially of my husband. When he passed away unexpectedly in 2006, I realized what a treasure photographs really were and I wanted to create that same feeling for others. I'm still in the beginning stages of making my dream a reality but you are welcome to check out my website here and my blog here. I also started my own 365 project called In This Year | 2009.

I also have a 2 year old son who is my life. I'm a proud Coast Guard girlfriend. My best friend is my twin sister, Kari. A lot of my inspiration comes from them but also music, magazines and the natural elements.

I'm really excited to be here and be even more inspired and hopefully be inspiring.

Etsy

okay, so i figure that most everyone has heard of (and LOVES) etsy.. but just in case you haven't heard of it, i wanted to do a little review! i LOVE etsy, and i'm sure you will too! ever wonder where everyone's getting those awesome newborn hats, or those great little knitted cocoons, or those precious little headbands with the big flowers? well etsy of course! etsy is an online store for all things handmade. there's so much more than what i listed, i've bought my girls some really cute dresses from there, and i have a ton of things saved in my favorites. when i know i have a session coming up, i'll go and see what goodies i can find, and most of the sellers ship fairly fast.
okay, so enough with all the talk... you want to see for yourself, just click here: etsy!

i also thought i'd list a few of my favorite shops:
disclaimer - i have not bought from all of these, i have from many, but please make purchases at your own risk ;)
Dainty Divas Boutique- i bought a precious headband from here
Cutie Fruity - i bought a belly band from this shop, those are great for maternity photo's!
Super Fly Kidz - they have some really cute capes for little boyz
Burry Babies - really cute newborn hats
Bubble girl knits - lots of cute stuff here
Fate Goddess - baby/toddler leg warmers
Very KiKi - cutest little boy onsies
Little Daisy Designs - really cute handmade dresses

okay, i guess that's enough for now, 'cause i could go on and on... happy shopping!

[red fox photography]-simply senior

As a teacher (and friend with the yearbook advisor) I hear about the kids who don't get senior pictures done because they can't afford them or they're just not into it. So, I came up with what I'm going to call "simply senior." The plan is to set aside one day a month in June, July, and August and have seniors come in for a 15 minute session just to get the yearbook shot. I'm planning on charging $30 for this and including 8 wallets and a 5x7. I'll also get a digital file to their yearbook advisor. It's kind of a way to do a service to my community AND get my name out. Plus, I'm guessing that they'll order more than the prints included.

Anyway, I'm still working on a brochure/post card but I have the logo. Please note, the colors are my business colors.

Hands and Hearts Photography <3 Augusta,GA

Hi! I'm Crystal..

I have been married for seven years, we have two sons together (5 and 3), and they keep me on my toes (or maybe that's just because my feet are sore from walking on matchbox cars? If you have boys.. you KNOW what I'm talkin about!)

I haven't been in business very long (I'm actually still getting everything set up) but I've always been into Photography. I only recently started getting serious about turning a hobby into my Life's Passion, and I'm still learning tons of new things everyday (Like we ever stop the learning process, right?) I also love to design things in Photoshop, which I've been doing for nearly 5 years now, and I'm currently trying to "self-teach" Adobe Illustrator (which isn't going so well. I think I'm too "set in my ways" with Photoshop!)

You can visit my photography site here , design blog here, and my new 365Redeux blog is just getting started!

I look forward to participating here!

{Austin Photographer} 2/365

This is one of the last images I shot in 2008 and one of the first I shot with my new Canon 5D. My settings were 1pm on a very cloudy day ISO 100 ss 1/100 f4.5 used my 24-70L @ 70 mm.

Here is the SOOC (Straight out of the camera) just watermarked and websized

And here is my final edit.

It's not too much different from the sooc what I did was ran noiseware (iso was only 100 so I didn't need it but I always run it) contrast boost, crop and sharpen.

Kristen Duke Photography~Austin, Texas

Hello, I'm Kristen, and I've been in the photography business for about 5 years. I started with my film SLR and after about a year was convinced by another photographer friend that I needed to go digital, so I bought the very first rebel a year later. I used that for a year and a half til it kinda broke, I then got the 20D and used that for 2 years. Then, last summer got my 5D. I used my 50mm almost exclusively with my 20D for nearly 2 years and this year I have gone LENS CRAZY!!!

In high school (in Houston) I was on the yearbook staff as a photographer and developed in the darkroom. That was a lot of fun and I'm SO glad I had that opportunity. When I went to college at BYU, and had the intention to major in photography, but it just didn't feel right at the time. I ended up getting my Bachelors in Human Development--thinking I'd be a marriage and family therapist. But I got married, didn't want to do grad school anymore, and started my family. I've got 3 kids with 1 on the way. I've been married for 9 years, and turned the ripe old age of 30 this year. My photog business is strictly "on the side" and I usually only do sessions when my husband is home. I am so grateful that I'm able to do what I love while still....doing what I love. If that makes sense:) I get to do both.

I'm excited to get to know all of you...I already checked out a few of your blogs and left comments, so feel free to peruse my website and blog. I LOVE comments! You leave me blog love, I leave you blog love:) ~Kristen

{Bryan/College Station, TX} Stefanie Russell Photography

Hi everyone! I am Stefanie Russell of Stefanie Russell Photography. I have been in "official" business now for about a year. I have 2 beautiful children and a loving hubby! I have had a lot of ups and downs this year and have learned lots of lessons. I still feel I have a long way to go with PS, etc. I love to learn something new everyday with photography. I hope I can inspire you as much as some of you have inspired me (cough, hack, Hope, hum, Carole...just to name a few, lol). I really don't have a good picture of myself but my sweet 17yr old sil took this one of me at Thanksgiving. Can't wait to see more from everyone. Please feel free to check out my website http://www.stefanierussellphotography.com/ and blog http://www.stefanierussellphotography.blogspot.com/ .

{Sarah Henderson Photography} NorthWest Florida Panhandle Photographer

Hi there! I'm Sarah Henderson a Photographer in the Pensacola FL area! I am a military wife to my hubby Brandon, a US Coast Guardsman, and lucky mommy to our two great kids! Our spunky littleman Garrett, 4 and our sweet and sassy baby girl Avery, 1! Photography has been a lifelong love/ passion for me. I have always enjoyed taking photos and in high school I was able to take two years of b/w film photography learning on my parents fully manual Pentax SLR! Although I think there's nothing like processing your own film and prints and seeing your images develop, I do enjoy the digital aspect just as much as film. Processing images in Photoshop is an art in and of itself! I am now a self proclaimed "Canon Girl". My weapon of choice is a 40D accompanied by various lenses! I am a natural light lover and prefer it (but I do have a portable studio set up for studio shots.)
This summer, After a lot of encouragement and support from my family and one big "Go get 'em girl!" from my momma, I officially opened for business and I am enjoying doing what I love! I think that about sums me up for now! I am really excited to be apart of this venture and overjoyed to be surrounded by such talented photographers! I look forward to being inspired and doing my best to inspire! You can take a peek at my work on my website or on my blog! Here's to a wonderful NEW YEAR full of new and fresh things!

{Salem, Oregon Photographer} Carole Marie Photography

Hello! I'm Carole, a photographer in Salem, Oregon. I officially began my photography business last May ('08). You are welcome to check out my website and my blog - I love comments :)

I'm 35, been married 14 years and have four children (ages 9, 8, 3 and 4 mos). Besides photography, I'm a busy mama, homeschool teacher and a writer.

I'm excited to be part of this new blog and I'm looking forward to inspiring and being inspired!

{Charlotte Stringer} Photography {Terry,MS}

Hey ya'll! I am Charlotte of Charlotte Stringer Photography and I am from Terry, MS - That's just south of Jackson! I am a wife to one of the "bestest" friends I have and mom of 2 of the cutest little boys {6 and 8}. I also have a step-daughter who is 16.

Nope, sorry I don't have a sappy story about how my love of photography grew from me having kids and always treasuring moments, but I have always loved being behind the camera, even my first 110 Kodak when I was about 10!
My first digital (well real digital) was the Rebel... I thought I was the bomb!

I really enjoy outdoor photography with natural light. I do shoot indoors in my new little studio which consist of one continuous light with a Photek Softlighter, a few Silverlakes and a lot of seamless paper. I shoot all ages but I especially love working with Seniors the most and I will shoot a couple weddings here and there too.

You can check out my website
here and blog here.

I have two Canon 5d's and a couple pieces of glass {Harold is my fave}, a macro and a nifty fifty.

I am excited about sharing the next year with all of you guys!
Thanks for reading! ~Char~

{Western NC Photographer} Wiseman Photography

My name is  Amber Wiseman and I have been taking photographs on and off for several years.  After the birth of my first child,  I picked up my camera and have not put it down since (my husband likes to say it is attached to my face).  I used it to capture every moment of his life and my life through him.  Since that time I have been capturing moments for many people and the moments or my two other children .  I have always loved art and enjoy the freedom of being creative .  I worked for several years in a recreational therapy position and then later on as an admission coordinator for a health care provider.  I enjoyed both of these jobs immensely, because I spent most of my days working directly with people.  Then, in March of 2006 the Lord lead me to become a stay at homemom.  This was a big decision for me, because I enjoyed working so much, butI was missing so much time with my children. After a short time being at home with my children I began letting my “creative” side emerge and I stepped out to take photographs for close friends and family.  After receiving many positive comments I decide that I would try to see if I could make it as “a real photographer.”  I remember how afraid I was that I would fail!  During my first session I was so excited and nervous that my heart felt as though it would beat out of my chest.  So...imagine my delight when the photographs turned out well.  My years of work in a corporate setting taught me the importance of building great relationships with my clients and also helped me to focus and pay close attention to my quality of work.  Each event that I photograph is unique and special unto itself.  Rather that try to add ingredients to a session,  I prefer to stand back and let what will be to be.  I then take that special something and turn it into a wonderful memory worth cherishing.  I truly have a passion for what I do and I strive to make that obvious in my work.  I am currently in the process of a much needed face lift to my website, but feel free to get a taste of my work by visiting my own personal blog awww.awisemanphotography.blogspot.com.  I look forward to giving what I can in hopes of inspiring someone and in return receiving the best benefit of all....INSPIRATION!

I look forward to growing as a photographer and sharing my journey with all of you!

[red fox photography]-Tiffany Austin

Hi everyone! I'm an aspiring photographer in Wisconsin. I've been somewhat in business for a year or so but with few clients. I've decided that I'm going to step it up this year and really make some green. I'm a mom to two little boys...one is two and a half and the other is 4 months old so they keep me and my hubby pretty busy. My day job is as a Spanish teacher in a neighboring school. So, photography will be a great supplement to my income....being that senior season and my summer off coincide. I've also recently become addicted to designing card templates and papers as well as playing with textures.

If you feel like looking you can check out my website and blog.

{Stevensville, Montana Photographer} A Life of Joy Photography

self port dec 2

Hi! My name is Elli, and I am a Christian, and wife of 20 years to my perfect soul mate. I am also the mother to 8 children (7 still at home). We have what we affectionately call a non-traditional family. If you would like to know more about that, you can read our story here.

I am just working towards getting a photography business started, and I am daily learning more about this art. Part of that effort for me is my personal 365 blog. That blog is where I show some of my practice shots, and show off my family. I am really excited about being a part of Be Inspired Be Inspiring. This community blog is going to be a great way for me - and all of us - to continue to grow and learn!

{Arya Wiese Photography - New Plymouth, ID}

This is an image captured with Arya's webcam on her Imac of her and her three children. Taken Dec. 21, 2008. She recently moved from Aloha, Oregon and now she currently lives in New Plymouth, Idaho and is working to relaunch her business in Idaho. Feel free to check out her website or her other blogs: Personal and Business
A story of one AA member

A young woman (about the age of 29) w/3 kids hanging off of her and a handsome man pushing her to speak raises her hand and says the following: "Hello, My name is Arya and I am a photo-holic. I started taking pictures a very long time ago. Mostly w/b&w film. I learned how to develop the negatives and create prints in a dark room." she sighs and her face gets all dreamy-like. "Oh how I loved the smell." her eyes close as she remembers the faint chemical smells, the man next to her gently prods her to move along in the story.

"I made the switch to digital shortly after my husband went to Iraq. Boy was that a change, soon I had instant gratification and my passion to capture the fleeting moments of our son's lives so that my husband wouldn't feel as though he missed anything by serving our country." she turns to the handsome man sitting next to her and mouth's {I love you}.

"Soon after he returned I wanted to make my passion for photography into a business. My husband was so supportive and wanted me to be doing something I loved. Of course he didn't realize what he was getting into and I didn't realize how addicting the whole digital world could be." the woman sighed and picked up the little girl w/curls who was pawing at her quietly saying "mommy, I want you".

"Digital has it's challenges and I so enjoy it and become frustrated with it and want to embrace all it has to offer. I also want to find a good balance between it and my family. I want to capture memories for others but I want to capture my own memories as well." she sighs again and looks at her family and then back at the group and says "I hope that I can find the balance and share many beautiful memories that have been captured along the journey of this next year."

She stops and looks at each member in the circle and says, "As this new year begins, may it bring our addiction into full realization while finding the balance we so need to succeed." and with that she sits down and the 2 boys, with bald heads, start to clammer onto her while her husband pulls her close and kisses the side of her face.

Hope Brown Photography - South Louisiana

hi there! my name is Hope of Hope Brown Photography from south louisiana. i'm a wife and mom of 2 beautiful girls, ages (almost) 6 and 8. i've had a love of photography for as long as i can remember, starting at a young age with a fascination of printed photographs that over the years evolved into a love of creating them.
most of my work is done in the studio.. probably close to 90%. i love working outdoors too, it's just that the crazy LA weather makes it uncomfortable most of the year. i specialize in babies and young children and i'm a simple kind of girl. i love seamless paper and that's mostly what i use for my backdrops, though i do have a few canvases and a babycakes that i love! i don't use alot of props either.. nothing wrong with them, just not my thing. you can check out my website here and blog here.
i'm a canon girl, and just got the new 5D mark ii.. yay me! i haven't even had a session with it, though i have a newborn session coming up in the next few days, so i'll share those soon! i have a 40D as my back-up and my fave lens is the 24-70L f/2.8.
oh, also i'm a bit of a motor mouth, so hopefully my post won't bore anyone!

i look forward to sharing the next year with you all..

{West Michigan} Photographer Summer Lacey Photography

Hello everyone, I am Summer. I am a West Michigan, on location photographer, based in Lowell Michigan. I am a wife & mother of 2. I spend most of my time behind the camera & not in front! I have found a passion for photography, while trying to capture all of the sweet moments in my children's lives. Even though I am still new to this business, I know one thing for sure, that I have the drive to always to better!

Life is so precious and I want to remember all of it. And I know other mother's and father's feel the same way. That is why, I am considered a lifestyle photographer. Capturing real life moments and opportunities. Not forcing fake smiles, but capturing your child and family in their own element. Whether it be at a park or in their own back yard, I am capturing all of life's little sunshines!

You can check out my work here http://www.summerlaceyphotography.com/ and for my latest work and news you can go here http://summerlacey.blogspot.com/. I am working on my bran new blog & will have that new post up as soon as it is all done.

I am so glad to be apart of this blog and being along side many wonderful other photographers. Who have not only become great friends to me, but are an inspiration to me as well. I only hope I can inspire you as they have inspired me.

Linda Jay Photography

Hi, I'm Linda Jay and born and bred in the UK.  Like most people here, I spend my time on the other side of the lens and photos of me are rare.

2009 for me is going to be my Year of Creativity and I am going to let go off my mental shackles and dedicate this year to change and creative development - whether that be photography, writing, furnishings or even cooking, as long as I am making something, then I am happy.

2009 is also the year I intend to go professional - even writing that scares me but I have plans in place to make that happen and I will be sharing that particular adventure here.

I love people, laughter and beautiful things which includes my hubby of 17 years, my grown son and our 3 dogs.  Life is full, it is wonderful and I am looking forward to the inspiring journey of this blog.

My new website & blog is here:  www.lindajayphotography.co.uk

{Longview Washington Photography} Jessica Lemmons Photography

I am a Longview Washington based, on-location, lifestyle photographer. If I were to describe myself in one sentence it would be "wife, mom, camera geek, business nerd, and coffee conosseuir." (My caffiene addiction is legendary!) I have a passion for my family, with a little (and sometimes LARGE) dose of photography on the side. I have two adorable children, and one hot and sexy husband who is my inspiration and encouragement through all of this. He keeps me going and will probably be the source of a lot of what I end up sharing on here - his name is Bryce, in case ya'll we're wondering and that's him with me in the photo.

I shoot with Canon equipment and currently have a 5d and 30d in my arsenal, along with various lens, flashes and other accessories. My website and blog are located here - www.jessicalemmonsphotography.com and here www.jessicalemmonsphotography.com/blog if you wanted to check out my latest goings on.

I'm looking forward to being a part of this blog and can't wait to start sharing some of what has inspired and encouraged me on my journey through the photography and business world, and I hope that in some way I can help inspire and encourage others!

{Southern MA/Northern RI Photographer} Life Stills Photography

My name is Tara. As a mother and a wife I know how precious a picture that truly captures the spirit of a child is. However, I have found that chain studios don’t always do an adequate job of catching a child’s spark, and not everyone is able to go out to a studio and have formal portraits taken. This has become even more apparent to me through my years as an occupational therapist working with infants and children with special needs. Having a passion for photography, I naturally began to think of ways I could combine these three aspects of my life, photography, motherhood and working with children of all capabilities into one business that would help me enable people to truly capture the precious moments in their life

I believe that every child is beautiful as they are and deserves to have pictures that reflect them as the unique individuals they are. I believe that the best way to achieve this is to bring the photographer to the child. And this is how Life Stills Photography began.
I currently work full time as a pediatric occupational therapist and split my time during the school system and early intervention. In April of 2008 I published Sensational Fun which is a set of sensory activity cards for parents to use with their children. They can be found at http://www.theraproducts.com/.
I have been getting very busy with my photography though. I shoot mainly on weekends and edit when my family is sleeping (which does not leave much time for me to sleep). But, I love every minute of it and have such a passion for what I do.

As of lately, I have begun to branch out to landscape, nature, and macro photography and have found this to be quite fulfilling as well and I am working on building that portion of my work.

You can check me out here http://www.lifestillsphotography.com/ but keep in mind my site is new and a work in progress!

{Rhode Island Photographer} My favorite thing from 2008...

What was your favorite 'thing' about 2008? A new camera? A new lens? A new house? A new vacation?

Whatever it was - take a picture and try as many different ways to bring out the best in it!

Personally, this was my favorite from 2008 :)

Daria, 4 months

Happy New Year!!!!!!!

{Rhode Island Photographer} Jennifer DeCesari Photography

Hello!

I'm Jennifer and that's my picture - something very rare indeed because I'm almost ALWAYS the one taking the picture. This one was taken by my hubby when I was testing lights in the studio for a session with some new clients - I actually like it!

I'm a new photographer but not new to the inspiration it can provide to my life. I've found since I've started my photography business that I look at nearly everything differently. Every single baby I see I look longingly at their eyes and wish I had my camera because I think babies have the most amazing glossy eyes of any age group and I love to freeze that for parents to savor for years to come. Infancy is so fleeting!

I'm a mom myself - I have 2 beautiful girls, Arianna, almost 3 and Daria, 4 months. They are my most photographed subjects (mostly unwillingly!) and the reason I got into photography. I actually started out scrapbooking 10 years ago and got into it earnestly when Arianna, my oldest, was born. Then I started wanting more out of my pages - I wanted the photographs to really stand out! I got my first dSLR - a Canon XTi - and the rest is history!

I'm always looking for new inspiration and ways to stretch my skill and creativity - looking forward to learning lots and inspiring many!

That's me, Heather on my wedding day, May 2 2004. An old photo? Yes, but one I actually like of myself:) I like being behind the lens, not in front. I am a wife to my hubby David, we've been together since age 15 way back in 1996. We have 3 children. Taelyn will be 8 in January, I just cannot believe she is THAT old already. She loves Hannah Montana and her new DS Santa brought for her! Sebastian will be 4 in February, he was supposed to be a girl. Yes you read that right, he was not supposed to have a penis, but he does and for a boy I guess that is a necessary thing to have;)Our youngest and most likely our last is Aubrey, she's 19 months and loves to color on the walls (Thank God for the Magic Eraser!) She was a late walker and is a slow teether but she has a will (like me) to do what she wants when she puts her mind to it.

Dave and I grew up in Western New York, around the Buffalo/Niagara Falls area. We left NY in Sept 2005 for a short lived adventure in Omaha, NE. We currently live in a suburb of Austin, TX and have been here since 7/06. I am just starting out as a professional photographer, you can view my work at www.vanityphotography.net. I have always been the crazy girl with the camera;) I love it...wouldn't want it any other way;)

Well I guess that is long enough for now. I'm looking forward to being a contributor to this blog alongside some wonderful photographers!

Happy New Year ya'll!
